Geomuseum Dinkelberg

AmmoniteThe Geomuseum Dinkelberg developed from the exhibition „Geology of the  Dinkelberg” which was arrangerd and concieved by members of the “Association of Friends of Mineralogy”, namely Bernhard Pflüger, Michael Käuflin, Wilfried Prommesberger and Gerd Schuler who did innumerable on-site field work.

In 2009, the initiating persons handed over their stone collection together with the presentation boards to the town of Rheinfelden (Baden) in order to establish thereof a permanent exhibition still technically under their supervision.

mammoth bonesAppropriate accomodation was found at the access to the “Tschamberhöhle” in house Brombacherstraße 4 in Rheinfelden-Riedmatt directly on the federal road 34 (B34) between Basel and Bad Säckingen on the High Rhine. There you will find an exhibition of stones, crystals and fossils illustrating 290 millions of years of geology and thus witnessing prehistory and early history of the Dinkelberg.

Opening hours

The Geomuseum Dinkelberg is open from 1st June to 31st October on Sundays and public holidays, from 1.30 pm to 4.30 pm. Guided Tours on request.
